Wondering what reaching ladies and girls in remote villages in Africa looks like? Click here to see Pathways Women Empowerment and Girl Child Support in Zimbabwe in action! This month, seamstresses and team members Susan and Lisa journeyed for hours through wilderness and rivers to reach a village all but isolated. The singing, dancing and joyous greeting of the villagers demonstrate their happiness of experiencing people who care about their health and future happiness.

Typically, the villager’s only contact with the outside world is a mobile clinic that stops by every few months, making any products for ladies’ monthly cycles a huge challenge for women and girls in the community – especially during COVID-19.

The Pathways Women Empowerment and Girl Child Support team is willing to travel for hours, experiencing very difficult circumstances to reach women and girls in extremely rural areas. Thanks go to our generous friends and donors who are partners in this great adventure to serve the many unreached with sanitary supplies. This allows girls to not miss a week of school each month and prevent all ladies from contracting tetanus when they do not have clean, washable, waterproof sanitary pads to use during their monthly cycle. CEO and community leader Trymore Ndolo always accompanies the ladies to greet the men and teach them about women’s health issues.

Our hearts are so full seeing what our global team members, leaders and partners can accomplish. Together we are truly changing the world!

“USE OF REUSABLE SANITARY PADS ON THE RISE”
Leonard Ncube, Victoria Falls Chronicle

July 12, 2020 - The use of reusable sanitary pads is becoming popular among women and girls as the cost of regular disposable ones has gone beyond the reach of many.  Some rural girls reportedly resort to using rags and cow dung to manage their menstruation periods as they cannot afford disposable sanitary pads, which now cost more than $100 per pack on average.

Bringing Hope to Cairo’s Garbage Villages

April 2, 2020 - Thousands of people live in villages created in Cairo’s garbage dumps.  They make a living by collecting and recycling garbage they pick up from the apartments and homes in wealthier neighborhoods around the city.  Marcell Attalla teaches English, hygiene and Bible stories for the 600 mothers and over 1,000 children who come to the Christian Center at various times throughout the week.  All are learning about Christianity through Marcell’s love of the people and her devotion to them.  Pathways-Africa is helping collect clothing and educational supplies to assist the families.

PATHWAYS HELPS SISTERS WITH EDUCATION & HOPE

February 1, 2020 - Pathways-Africa is now sponsoring two new students at Living Water Learning Center in Arusha, Tanzania.  Christine and Ester are not orphans, as most of the students are, but sisters who were close to being married at very young ages so their father could purchase more cattle, the traditional measure of wealth in their Maasai culture.  We are thankful to our thoughtful, caring donors who make it possible for these girls to receive an education which will open opportunities for a better life and hope for the future.

unCOMMON GOOD INTERVIEW

August 7, 2019 - “It takes a village to raise a child” is a popular African proverb, and Lowell and Linda Rice have taken this message to heart. They believe that education is the key that opens doors to the future, and that it is possible to achieve success by working together as a community.

Zimbabwe Broadcasting Company interview

July 31, 2019 - Zimbabwe Broadcasting Company traveled from Harare to Victoria Falls to interview Director Trymore Cadre Ndolo about the Pathways Women Empowerment and Girl Child support project to make washable, waterproof sanitary pads for ladies. The Days for Girls South African Director also was there to train our ladies for official certification so the pads may be sold throughout Africa and purchased by any other non-profit organizations that need the pads for people they serve. It is a great step forward and a true blessing form God. Thank you all who support this life saving project.
